The SSC CHSL 2023 question paper was not officially published, so this page does not host it. Instead it has a clearly labelled mock paper with original questions modelled on the reported 2023 pattern, plus a timed attempt plan and an error-log routine. The SSC CHSL exam covers English, Quant, Reasoning and GA.

Why this year matters

Treat SSC CHSL 2023 as a second full-length dress rehearsal once the newest SSC CHSL year on this hub is logged. Speed with accuracy is the game. Tag silly misses ruthlessly; they repeat on SSC papers.

Count attempts and accuracy by section. A high raw score with a failed sectional cut-off is still a fail in the real exam.

Paper analysis

Snapshot of SSC CHSL 2023

Strong mid-recent CHSL timed.

2023 should feel close to the newest paper in structure. If it feels wildly easier or harder, check whether you changed attempt strategy, not only content knowledge.

What this paper stresses

  • English error patterns that repeat every year.
  • GA current + static mix that coaching dumps mis-weight.
  • Quant silly misses at high attempt rates.
  • Shift normalisation anxiety that wrecks accuracy.

What to extract before you move on

  • Attempt-rate targets per section under current negatives.
  • GA static lists that actually appeared (not the 200-page PDF).
  • Quant chapters producing silly misses.
  • English error rules worth a one-page sheet.

How 2023 sits next to other years

Stack 2023 beside SSC CHSL 2024, SSC CHSL 2022, SSC CHSL 2021. Shared misses across these years are your real syllabus debt.

Analyst note: The conducting body did not publish the SSC CHSL 2023 paper. The mock below is original practice in the reported pattern; treat coaching “memory-based” papers as unofficial reconstructions.

SSC CHSL 2023 Tier-I mock paper (modelled on candidate reports)

This is a mock paper we wrote. The official 2023 paper was never released. The conducting body has not published it. These 20 questions are original, written by previousyearquestions.app to match what candidates and exam analyses reported about the 2023 exam: section mix, topics and difficulty. Use it to practise the pattern. The questions themselves are not from the real exam.

SSC has not published any CHSL question paper since the exam moved online: the question paper and answer key are shown only inside each candidate's login for a few days, for personal use, and the 'Previous Year Question Paper' page on ssc.gov.in holds only a 2011 generic CHSL model paper. This original mini-paper follows candidate reports of the CHSL 2023 Tier-I computer-based exam held from 2 to 22 August 2023.

What candidates reported about 2023

  • Tier-I ran from 2 to 22 August 2023 with the usual 100 questions, 60 minutes and +2 / −0.50 marking.
  • Reasoning was rated easy to moderate and English mostly easy; Quant and General Awareness ranged from easy to moderate between shifts.
  • Some shifts had a 5-question cloze test instead of reading comprehension, others a 5-question RC; para-jumbles (3–4), error detection, synonyms/antonyms, active/passive and sentence improvement filled the rest.
  • Reasoning repeated odd-one-out, mirror images, analogy and number analogy, coding-decoding, blood relations, calendar, dictionary order and embedded figures.
  • Quant leaned on profit and loss, algebra, circle geometry, SI/CI, partnership, pipes and cisterns and a pie-chart data-interpretation set.
  • General Awareness mixed static questions (Western and Eastern Ghats, classical dance, constitutional articles, MGNREGA, festivals, the 1857 revolt) with 3–8 current-affairs questions depending on the shift.

Suggested time: 12 minutes. The real Tier-I paper had 100 questions (25 per section) for 200 marks in 60 minutes, computer-based, +2 for each correct answer and −0.50 for each wrong answer. For this 20-question mock allow 12 minutes in total and use the same marking (maximum 40 marks).

Quantitative Aptitude

Data interpretation

A family's total monthly expenditure of ₹40,000 is divided as shown in the table (a pie chart in the original style).

HeadShare of expenditure
Food30%
Rent25%
Education15%
Transport10%
Savings20%
  1. How much more does the family spend on Food than on Transport in a month?

    1. ₹6,000
    2. ₹8,000
    3. ₹10,000
    4. ₹4,000
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: B (₹8,000)

    Difference in share = 30% − 10% = 20%. 20% of ₹40,000 = ₹8,000.

  1. A invests ₹24,000 for 12 months and B invests ₹36,000 for 6 months in a business. Out of a total profit of ₹14,000, what is A's share?

    1. ₹6,000
    2. ₹7,000
    3. ₹8,000
    4. ₹8,400
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: C (₹8,000)

    Ratio of capital × time = 24000 × 12 : 36000 × 6 = 288000 : 216000 = 4 : 3. A's share = 14000 × 4/7 = ₹8,000.

  2. Pipe A can fill a tank in 12 hours and pipe B in 18 hours. If both are opened together, how long will they take to fill the empty tank?

    1. 7 hours 12 minutes
    2. 7 hours 30 minutes
    3. 6 hours 48 minutes
    4. 8 hours
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: A (7 hours 12 minutes)

    Together they fill 1/12 + 1/18 = 3/36 + 2/36 = 5/36 of the tank per hour. Time = 36/5 = 7.2 hours = 7 hours 12 minutes.

    1. 390
    2. 350
    3. 430
    4. 370
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: D (370)

    a³ + b³ = (a + b)³ − 3ab(a + b) = 1000 − 3 × 21 × 10 = 1000 − 630 = 370. (Check: a, b = 7 and 3; 343 + 27 = 370.)

  4. An arc of a circle subtends an angle of 130° at the centre. What angle does it subtend at any point on the remaining part of the circle?

    1. 130°
    2. 65°
    3. 115°
    4. 50°
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: B (65°)

The angle subtended by an arc at the centre is twice the angle it subtends at any point on the remaining part of the circle, so the required angle = 130° ÷ 2 = 65°.

How to sit SSC CHSL 2023

  1. Work through the mock paper above under exam timing. It follows the reported pattern, but the questions are our own.
  2. Sit the paper under current brochure rules (timers, negatives, NAT/MSQ norms), even if 2023’s interface looked different.
  3. When the clock ends, stop. Review should take at least as long as the attempt.
  4. Fill the error log the same day: section, topic, and miss type (concept, silly, time, or misread).
  5. Next session, repair only logged items. Then pick another year from the decade list.

FAQ

Where can I download the official SSC CHSL 2023 question paper?

The conducting body did not release it publicly. This page has a clearly labelled mock paper modelled on candidate reports instead.
