Why this year matters

Older SSC CHSL papers like 2018 are for mining, not nostalgia. Keep current marking rules, and skip topics the latest brochure dropped. Speed with accuracy is the game. Tag silly misses ruthlessly; they repeat on SSC papers.

Count attempts and accuracy by section. A high raw score with a failed sectional cut-off is still a fail in the real exam.

Paper analysis

Snapshot of SSC CHSL 2018

Older CHSL archive.

2018 may feel differently paced than the newest cycle. Borrow stamina and theme lessons; do not copy obsolete section orders or marking quirks.

What this paper stresses

  • Shift normalisation anxiety that wrecks accuracy.
  • English error patterns that repeat every year.
  • GA current + static mix that coaching dumps mis-weight.
  • Quant silly misses at high attempt rates.

What to extract before you move on

  • English error rules worth a one-page sheet.
  • Attempt-rate targets per section under current negatives.
  • GA static lists that actually appeared (not the 200-page PDF).
  • Quant chapters producing silly misses.

How 2018 sits next to other years

Use 2018 only after SSC CHSL 2024, SSC CHSL 2023, SSC CHSL 2022 are logged. Archive years are for frequency maps, not for predicting tomorrow’s cut-off.

Analyst note: The conducting body did not publish the SSC CHSL 2018 paper. The mock below is original practice in the reported pattern; treat coaching “memory-based” papers as unofficial reconstructions.

SSC CHSL 2018 Tier-I mock paper (modelled on candidate reports)

This is a mock paper we wrote. The official 2018 paper was never released. The conducting body has not published it. These 20 questions are original, written by previousyearquestions.app to match what candidates and exam analyses reported about the 2018 exam: section mix, topics and difficulty. Use it to practise the pattern. The questions themselves are not from the real exam.

SSC has not released CHSL question papers publicly since the exam moved online; the question paper and answer key are shown only inside each candidate's login for a few days and are meant for personal use, and the 'Previous Year Question Paper' page on ssc.gov.in holds only an old 2011 model paper. This is an original 20-question mini-paper modelled on the CHSL 2018 Tier-I, held online from 1 to 11 July 2019, and on the topic weights reported for the preceding cycle.

What candidates reported about 2018

  • Computer-based Tier-I held from 1 to 11 July 2019 in three one-hour shifts a day (10-11 am, 1-2 pm and 4-5 pm).
  • 100 questions in four sections of 25 (General Intelligence, English, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness) for 200 marks; 0.50 mark was deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Pre-exam reviews pointed candidates to the previous cycle's high-weight topics: fill-in-the-blanks and a cloze passage in English, DI and simple/compound interest in Quant.
  • In reasoning, analogy and odd-one-out were the most frequent types, alongside coding-decoding, series, blood relations and symbol substitution.
  • General Awareness was expected to be led by current affairs (4-5 questions) and polity, with science and history making up much of the rest.

Suggested time: 12 minutes. The real CHSL 2018 Tier-I gave 60 minutes for 100 questions. This 20-question mock keeps that pace: 12 minutes for all four sections, answered in any order. Each question has four options; +2 for a correct answer, −0.50 for a wrong answer, 0 if left blank.
