About WBJEE

WBJEE is the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board’s test for engineering, technology, architecture and pharmacy admissions in the state. Candidates who take both papers get a General Merit Rank and a Pharmacy Merit Rank; those who take only Paper II (Physics and Chemistry) get a Pharmacy Merit Rank only, and a candidate who sits only Paper I gets no rank (WBJEE 2026 bulletin, section 2.2).

Pattern

Paper I is Mathematics (100 marks) and Paper II is Physics plus Chemistry (100 marks), each in 2 hours. Every question is multiple choice with four options, in three categories:

SubjectCategory 1 (1 mark, minus 1/4)Category 2 (2 marks, minus 1/2)Category 3 (2 marks, no negative)QuestionsMarks
Mathematics50151075100
Physics30554050
Chemistry30554050

The 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025 booklet covers all print the same three-category rules, so the pattern is stable across the papers on this site.

What is official, and what to check

The Board’s old question papers page carries the booklets but no answer keys; keys appear in separate notices. This site hosts the final key notices for 2025 (22 August 2025) and 2026 (17 June 2026). The bulletin (section 11) explains that model keys are shown briefly after the exam, candidates may challenge them for a fee, and the final frozen keys are used for ranking. Booklets are bilingual (English and Bengali) with English prevailing.

Notes on recent years

The 2025 exam was on 27 April and the 2026 exam on 24 May. Neither the 2021 nor the 2026 booklets appear on the Board’s papers page, and the 2024 and 2025 booklets are image scans, while the 2023 booklets have a text layer.

How to use old papers

Treat the 3 categories as three separate skills: Category 1 is speed, Category 2 is two-mark single-correct problems where a wrong guess costs half a mark, and Category 3 is multi-correct with partial credit. After each paper, log marks per category per subject. Mathematics carries 100 of 200 marks, so its 75 questions in 2 hours (96 seconds each) deserve most of your timing practice.

FAQ

Does WBJEEB publish old WBJEE question papers?

Yes. The Board keeps an old question papers page on wbjeeb.nic.in with Mathematics and Physics-Chemistry booklets for 2014 to 2025 (no 2021), and notices with final answer keys for recent years. This site hosts the 2019 to 2025 booklets and the 2025 and 2026 final keys.

What is the WBJEE exam pattern?

Two papers of 2 hours each. Paper I is Mathematics with 75 questions (100 marks); Paper II is Physics (40 questions) and Chemistry (40 questions) for 100 marks. All are MCQs in three categories: 1 mark with minus 1/4, 2 marks with minus 1/2, and 2 marks with no negative marking where more than one option can be correct.

Why are 2021 and 2026 papers missing?

The Board’s old question papers page lists no 2021 booklets, and 2026 booklets were not posted when this page was checked. For 2026 the final answer key notice is hosted instead.

How does partial marking work in Category 3?

If all correct options are marked and no wrong one, you get 2 marks. If only some correct options are marked and no wrong one, you get 2 times the correct options marked divided by the total correct options. Any wrong option gives zero, with no negative marking.

Which WBJEE papers should I solve first?

Start with 2025 and 2024 as timed papers, then 2023, 2022 and 2019. The pattern in these booklets matches the 2026 bulletin.
