The SSC CHSL 2020 question paper was not officially published, so this page does not host it. Instead it has a clearly labelled mock paper with original questions modelled on the reported 2020 pattern, plus a timed attempt plan and an error-log routine. The SSC CHSL exam covers English, Quant, Reasoning and GA.

Why this year matters
Older SSC CHSL papers like 2020 are for mining, not nostalgia. Keep current marking rules, and skip topics the latest brochure dropped. Speed with accuracy is the game. Tag silly misses ruthlessly; they repeat on SSC papers.
Count attempts and accuracy by section. A high raw score with a failed sectional cut-off is still a fail in the real exam.
Paper analysis
Snapshot of SSC CHSL 2020
Disrupted calendar. Keep current SSC rules.
2020 may feel differently paced than the newest cycle. Borrow stamina and theme lessons; do not copy obsolete section orders or marking quirks.
What this paper stresses
- GA current + static mix that coaching dumps mis-weight.
- Quant silly misses at high attempt rates.
- Shift normalisation anxiety that wrecks accuracy.
- English error patterns that repeat every year.
What to extract before you move on
- GA static lists that actually appeared (not the 200-page PDF).
- Quant chapters producing silly misses.
- English error rules worth a one-page sheet.
- Attempt-rate targets per section under current negatives.
How 2020 sits next to other years
Use 2020 only after SSC CHSL 2024, SSC CHSL 2023, SSC CHSL 2022 are logged. Archive years are for frequency maps, not for predicting tomorrow’s cut-off.
Analyst note: The conducting body did not publish the SSC CHSL 2020 paper. The mock below is original practice in the reported pattern; treat coaching “memory-based” papers as unofficial reconstructions.
SSC CHSL 2020 Tier-I mock paper (modelled on candidate reports)
SSC has not published any CHSL question paper since the exam moved online: the question paper and answer key are shown only inside each candidate's login for a few days, for personal use, and the 'Previous Year Question Paper' page on ssc.gov.in holds only a 2011 generic CHSL model paper. This original mini-paper follows candidate reports of the CHSL 2020 Tier-I computer-based exam, held 12–19 April 2021 and, after a COVID-19 postponement, 4–12 August 2021 for the remaining candidates.
What candidates reported about 2020
- Tier-I was a 60-minute online paper of 100 questions (25 each in English, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness) for 200 marks, with 0.50 deducted per wrong answer.
- Shifts ran from 12 to 19 April 2021; the rest of the schedule was postponed because of the second COVID-19 wave and held on 4–12 August 2021.
- Most shifts were rated easy to moderate overall; the 18 April morning shift was reported as the hardest, with Quant and Reasoning moderate to difficult.
- English was usually the easiest section: a 5-question cloze test plus pairs of synonyms, antonyms, active/passive, direct/indirect speech, one-word substitution and error spotting.
- Quant mixed arithmetic (profit and discount, SI/CI, ratio) with 3–5 data-interpretation questions and roughly 7–8 advanced-maths questions on algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Reasoning was dominated by analogy, series, odd-one-out and coding-decoding, with single questions on blood relations, mirror images, Venn diagrams and paper folding.
- General Awareness was rated moderate and carried around 9–10 current-affairs questions per shift alongside history, polity, geography and science.
Suggested time: 12 minutes. The real Tier-I paper had 100 questions (25 per section) for 200 marks in 60 minutes, computer-based, +2 for each correct answer and −0.50 for each wrong answer. For this 20-question mock allow 12 minutes in total and use the same marking (maximum 40 marks).

Cloze passage
When the monsoon failed for the second year in a row, the farmers of Kesarpur decided to __(1)__ the old stepwell that had lain buried under silt for decades. Nobody was sure it would still hold water, but the village elders __(2)__ that their grandparents had drawn from it through the driest summers.
Volunteers worked in shifts, removing cartloads of mud each day. By the end of the month a thin stream of clear water had begun to __(3)__ in at the bottom, and the whole village gathered to watch.
Select the most appropriate option to fill blank (1).
- revive
- abandon
- demolish
- ignore
Answer and explanation
Answer: A (revive)
The farmers wanted to bring the buried stepwell back into use, so 'revive' fits. 'Abandon', 'demolish' and 'ignore' contradict the effort described in the next paragraph.
Select the most appropriate option to fill blank (2).
- denied
- insisted
- doubted
- forgot
Answer and explanation
Answer: B (insisted)
The word 'but' contrasts the elders with those who were unsure; the elders were certain, so they 'insisted' that the well had once supplied water.
Select the most appropriate option to fill blank (3).
- shout
- collapse
- seep
- flatten
Answer and explanation
Answer: C (seep)
Water slowly oozing in at the bottom of a well 'seeps' in. The other verbs do not describe the movement of water.
Select the passive form of the sentence: The committee will announce the results tomorrow.
- The results are announced by the committee tomorrow.
- The results would be announced by the committee tomorrow.
- The results will have been announced by the committee tomorrow.
- The results will be announced by the committee tomorrow.
Answer and explanation
Answer: D (The results will be announced by the committee tomorrow.)

Select the number that comes next in the series: 3, 8, 18, 38, 78, ?
- 156
- 160
- 158
- 152
Answer and explanation
Answer: C (158)
Each term is (previous × 2) + 2: 3×2+2 = 8, 8×2+2 = 18, 18×2+2 = 38, 38×2+2 = 78, 78×2+2 = 158.
In a certain code language, TABLE is written as UBCMF. How will CHAIR be written in that language?

What is the value of sin²30° + cos²60° + tan²45°?
- 1
- 3/2
- 2
- 5/4
Answer and explanation
Answer: B (3/2)
sin 30° = 1/2 and cos 60° = 1/2, so each square is 1/4; tan 45° = 1. Total = 1/4 + 1/4 + 1 = 3/2.
Data interpretation

How to sit SSC CHSL 2020
- Work through the mock paper above under exam timing. It follows the reported pattern, but the questions are our own.
- Sit the paper under current brochure rules (timers, negatives, NAT/MSQ norms), even if 2020’s interface looked different.
- When the clock ends, stop. Review should take at least as long as the attempt.
- Fill the error log the same day: section, topic, and miss type (concept, silly, time, or misread).
- Next session, repair only logged items. Then pick another year from the decade list.
