Why this year matters

If you only sit one full SBI Clerk paper this month, make it 2024. It is the closest match to what the next cycle will feel like. Sectional timing and cut-offs matter as much as raw accuracy. Track attempts per section, not just the total.

Count attempts and accuracy by section. A high raw score with a failed sectional cut-off is still a fail in the real exam.

Paper analysis

Snapshot of SBI Clerk 2024

Modern Clerk speed template.

As the newest SBI Clerk paper on this hub, 2024 is your primary difficulty benchmark. Score it cold, then rebuild confidence with a slightly older year rather than jumping into random mocks.

What this paper stresses

  • Sectional cut-off failures despite a decent overall.
  • Puzzle / DI sets that should have been abandoned earlier.
  • English error-spotting under speed pressure.
  • Mains vs Prelims difficulty mismatch (especially SBI / RBI).

What to extract before you move on

  • Puzzle / DI patterns that beat you when you overstay.
  • Sectional attempt targets that still clear cut-offs in mocks.
  • English miss taxonomy (grammar vs vocab vs RC).
  • Prelims vs Mains repair queues kept as separate lists.

How 2024 sits next to other years

After you log 2024, move to SBI Clerk 2023, SBI Clerk 2022, SBI Clerk 2021 to see which weaknesses were paper-specific versus systemic.

Analyst note: SBI did not publish the SBI Clerk 2024 paper. The mock below is original practice in the reported pattern; treat coaching “memory-based” papers as unofficial reconstructions.

SBI Clerk 2024 mock paper (Junior Associates Prelims, modelled on candidate reports)

This is a mock paper we wrote. The official 2024 paper was never released. The conducting body has not published it. These 28 questions are original, written by previousyearquestions.app to match what candidates and exam analyses reported about the 2024 exam: section mix, topics and difficulty. Use it to practise the pattern. The questions themselves are not from the real exam.

SBI does not publish its Junior Associates question papers, so there is no official paper for the 2024 recruitment to host; the papers online are coaching memory-based versions. This original mini-paper is modelled on candidate reports of the 2024 Junior Associates Preliminary exam, held from 22 February 2025.

What candidates reported about 2024

  • 100 questions in 60 minutes with separate sectional timers (Reasoning 35, Numerical 35, English 30).
  • The 22 February 2025 shifts were widely rated easy to easy-moderate, with good-attempt estimates of roughly 80–86.
  • Reasoning (Shift 1): about 18 puzzle and seating questions, a 5-question digit series, syllogism, inequality, blood relation, number-based pair formation, meaningful word and a word-based question.
  • Numerical Ability: about 10 DI questions, 10 simplification, around 11 arithmetic questions and a 5-question missing number series.
  • English: RC (7 questions), cloze test, misspelt words, error detection, sentence arrangement and word usage.
  • Negative marking of 0.25 of the marks for each wrong answer.

Suggested time: 18 minutes. Each section had its own timer in the real exam. For this 28-question mock give about 6 minutes per section (18 minutes in total) and do not go back to a finished section. Five options per question; +1 for a correct answer, −0.25 for a wrong answer.

Passage

Street food is part of daily life in Indian cities, but customers often worry about hygiene. In several towns, municipal bodies have begun short training sessions for vendors, covering clean water, covered storage, hand washing and the safe disposal of waste.

Vendors who complete the training receive a certificate that they can display on their carts. Many say the certificate has brought them new customers, especially office workers who earlier avoided roadside stalls. A few have also reported lower spending on raw material, because covered storage means less food spoils.

The challenge is to keep standards up after the trainers leave. Clean water is not always available near vending zones, and inspections are infrequent. Officials say the next step is to provide water points and waste bins in vending areas, since vendors can hardly follow rules that their surroundings make impossible.

  1. Which of the following is NOT mentioned as part of the vendors' training?

    1. Use of clean water
    2. Covered storage
    3. Hand washing
    4. Pricing of food items
    5. Safe disposal of waste
    Answer and explanation

Answer: D (Pricing of food items)

The training covers clean water, covered storage, hand washing and waste disposal; pricing is not mentioned.

  2. Why have some vendors reported lower spending on raw material?

    1. They buy in bulk from the municipality
    2. Covered storage means less food spoils
    3. Their certificates give them discounts
    4. They serve fewer customers
    5. Inspections lowered prices
    Answer and explanation

Answer: B (Covered storage means less food spoils)

'A few have also reported lower spending on raw material, because covered storage means less food spoils.'

  3. What do officials plan as the next step?

    1. Ban roadside stalls
    2. Train office workers
    3. Provide water points and waste bins in vending areas
    4. Increase the number of certificates
    5. Raise license fees
    Answer and explanation

Answer: C (Provide water points and waste bins in vending areas)

Officials say 'the next step is to provide water points and waste bins in vending areas'.

    2. B
    3. C
    4. D
    5. None of these
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: D (D)

Order: B (start of the unit) – D ('At first' she struggled and learnt accounts) – C (repaid and expanded) – A (now advises others). The second sentence is D.

  2. In which sentence is the word 'address' used incorrectly?

    1. Please write your address clearly.
    2. The minister will address the gathering.
    3. We must address this problem quickly.
    4. He addressed to the letter carefully.
    5. All are correct

Reasoning Ability

Puzzle

Six persons A, B, C, D, E and F have birthdays on six different dates of March: 3, 8, 12, 17, 21 and 26.

A's birthday falls on an even date. Exactly two of the six birthdays fall between A's and D's. A's birthday comes before D's. B's birthday is the next one after E's. C's birthday comes before F's. F's birthday falls on a date that is a multiple of 4.

  1. Whose birthday is on 17 March?

    1. A
    2. B
    3. C
    4. E
    5. F
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: D (E)

    Order: 3 March: C; 8 March: F; 12 March: A; 17 March: E; 21 March: B; 26 March: D. A is on an even date (8, 12 or 26) and comes before D with two birthdays between them, so (A, D) is (8, 21) or (12, 26). F is on a multiple of 4 (8 or 12). If A were on 8, F would be on 12 and C (before F) on 3, leaving 17 and 26 for E and B, which are not consecutive, which is impossible. So A is on 12 and D on 26; F is on 8, C on 3, and E and B take 17 and 21 in that order.

  2. How many birthdays fall between C's and B's?

    1. One
    2. Two
    3. Three
    4. Four
    5. None
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: C (Three)

    Order: 3 March: C; 8 March: F; 12 March: A; 17 March: E; 21 March: B; 26 March: D. Between 3 March (C) and 21 March (B) come F, A and E.

  3. Whose birthday comes immediately before A's?

    1. B
    2. C
    3. D
    4. E
    5. F
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: E (F)

    Order: 3 March: C; 8 March: F; 12 March: A; 17 March: E; 21 March: B; 26 March: D.

Digit-based numbers

    3. Three
    4. Four
    5. Five
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: D (Four)

    471: 4 + 1 = 5 < 7 (no); 836: 14 > 3; 925: 14 > 2; 358: 11 > 5; 642: 8 > 4. Four numbers.

  3. How many pairs of digits in the number 8462913 have as many digits between them in the number as between them in the natural number sequence (counting both directions)?

    1. None
    2. One
    3. Two
    4. Three
    5. More than three
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: C (Two)

The pairs are 8–6 (positions 1 and 3; 8 and 6 have one number, 7, between them) and 4–2 (positions 2 and 4; 3 lies between them). No other pair qualifies, so two.

Syllogism and inequality

Decide which conclusion(s) definitely follow.

  1. Statements: Only a few books are novels. No novel is a magazine. Conclusions: I. Some books are not magazines. II. All books being magazines is a possibility.

    1. Only conclusion I follows
    2. Only conclusion II follows
    3. Either I or II follows
    4. Neither I nor II follows
    5. Both I and II follow
    Answer and explanation

Answer: A (Only conclusion I follows)

'Only a few books are novels' means some books are novels; those books cannot be magazines, so some books are not magazines (I follows) and all books cannot be magazines (II does not follow).

  2. Statement: K < L ≤ M, M > N = O, P ≥ M Conclusions: I. P > K II. O < P

    1. Only conclusion I follows
    2. Only conclusion II follows
    3. Either I or II follows
    4. Neither I nor II follows
    5. Both I and II follow
    Answer and explanation

Answer: E (Both I and II follow)

    P ≥ M ≥ L > K gives P > K. O = N < M ≤ P gives O < P. Both follow.

Miscellaneous

  1. G is the only son of H. I is the daughter of H. J is the husband of I. How is G related to J?

    1. Brother
    2. Brother-in-law
    3. Father-in-law
    4. Cousin
    5. Son-in-law
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: B (Brother-in-law)

    G and I are siblings; J is I's husband, so G is J's brother-in-law.

  2. How many meaningful English words can be formed with the letters O, T and P, using each letter exactly once?

    1. None
    2. One
    3. Two
