Why this year matters
2013 will not mirror every new question type, but it still trains selection, stamina, and the chapters that keep coming back. Speed with accuracy is the game. Tag silly misses ruthlessly; they repeat on SSC papers.
Count attempts and accuracy by section. A high raw score with a failed sectional cut-off is still a fail in the real exam.
Paper analysis
Snapshot of RRB NTPC 2013
Treat 2013 as a dated snapshot of rrb-ntpc difficulty and coverage. Keep the latest brochure for timers and marking, and use this paper for selection pressure and recurring themes.
2013 may feel differently paced than the newest cycle. Borrow stamina and theme lessons; do not copy obsolete section orders or marking quirks.
What this paper stresses
- Quant silly misses at high attempt rates.
- Shift normalisation anxiety that wrecks accuracy.
- English error patterns that repeat every year.
- GA current + static mix that coaching dumps mis-weight.
What to extract before you move on
- Quant chapters producing silly misses.
- English error rules worth a one-page sheet.
- Attempt-rate targets per section under current negatives.
- GA static lists that actually appeared (not the 200-page PDF).
How 2013 sits next to other years
Use 2013 only after RRB NTPC 2021, RRB NTPC 2020, RRB NTPC 2019 are logged. Archive years are for frequency maps, not for predicting tomorrow’s cut-off.
Analyst note: The RRBs did not publish the RRB NTPC 2013 paper. The mock below is original practice in the reported pattern; treat coaching “memory-based” papers as unofficial reconstructions.
RRB NTPC 2013 mock paper (modelled on the CEN 03/2012 Main second-stage exams)
In 2013 the RRBs held the Main (second stage) written exams of CEN 03/2012, including the ASM / Traffic Assistant group exam on 18 August 2013. No official question booklet or key from these exams is posted on any RRB website we could find, so this is an original mock on the same notified pattern: General Awareness, Arithmetic and General Intelligence & Reasoning, with GK current to mid-August 2013.
What candidates reported about 2013
- Candidates who cleared the December 2012 preliminary exam applied separately for four group-wise Main exams (CA/TA, ECRC/Goods Guard, JAA/Sr. Clerk, ASM/Traffic Assistant).
- RRB Ahmedabad lists 18 August 2013 as the date of the second-stage exam for the ASM group.
- The notified scheme stayed the same: objective questions on General Awareness, Arithmetic and General Intelligence and Reasoning, about 100 to 120 questions in 90 minutes.
- Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer applied to the Main exams too.
- ASM and Traffic Assistant candidates also had to clear an aptitude test, with 30% weightage given to aptitude marks.
- Forum advice before the Main exams stressed GK, with arithmetic and reasoning seen as scoring with practice.
Suggested time: 22 minutes. 24 questions; allow about 22 minutes (the real paper gave 90 minutes for roughly 100 to 120 questions). Each question carries 1 mark; 1/3 mark is deducted for every wrong answer, and unattempted questions score zero.

How to sit RRB NTPC 2013
- Work through the mock paper above under exam timing. It follows the reported pattern, but the questions are our own.
- Sit the paper under current brochure rules (timers, negatives, NAT/MSQ norms), even if 2013’s interface looked different.
- When the clock ends, stop. Review should take at least as long as the attempt.
- Fill the error log the same day: section, topic, and miss type (concept, silly, time, or misread).
- Next session, repair only logged items. Then pick another year from the decade list.
