Why this year matters

Older NEET papers like 2018 are for mining, not nostalgia. Keep current marking rules, and skip topics the latest brochure dropped. Biology volume dominates timing. Log Physics and Chemistry misses separately so repair sessions stay focused.

Write down one selection rule you will reuse on exam day: what you attempt first, and what you abandon after a fixed time box.

Paper analysis

Snapshot of NEET 2018

Older NEET. Filter against latest syllabus PDF.

2018 may feel differently paced than the newest cycle. Borrow stamina and theme lessons; do not copy obsolete section orders or marking quirks.

What this paper stresses

  • NCERT-line questions you overcomplicated.
  • Negative marking on guessed Physics.
  • Biology factual volume versus Physics numerical time.
  • Chemistry accuracy under Bio fatigue.

What to extract before you move on

  • Chem organic/physical pockets that need a dedicated repair block.
  • A timing split you will actually follow (Bio vs PCB balance).
  • Bio chapters with factual bleed (you “knew” it yesterday).
  • Physics formula-slip vs concept misses.

How 2018 sits next to other years

Use 2018 only after NEET 2025, NEET 2024, NEET 2023 are logged. Archive years are for frequency maps, not for predicting tomorrow’s cut-off.

Analyst note: The conducting body did not publish the NEET 2018 paper. The mock below is original practice in the reported pattern; treat coaching “memory-based” papers as unofficial reconstructions.

NEET 2018 mock paper (modelled on the CBSE pattern)

This is a mock paper we wrote. The official 2018 paper was never released. The conducting body has not published it. These 24 questions are original, written by previousyearquestions.app to match what candidates and exam analyses reported about the 2018 exam: section mix, topics and difficulty. Use it to practise the pattern. The questions themselves are not from the real exam.

CBSE did not publish the NEET 2018 question booklets on an official website that we could find, so this is an original mock paper. It follows the 6 May 2018 exam format: 180 single-correct MCQs in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, 3 hours, +4/−1.

What candidates reported about 2018

  • Held on 6 May 2018, the last NEET conducted by CBSE before the NTA took over.
  • About 13.27 lakh candidates registered.
  • Pattern: 180 MCQs (45 Physics, 45 Chemistry, 90 Biology), 180 minutes, 720 marks, +4/−1.
  • The paper was offered in English, Hindi and several regional languages.

Suggested time: 24 minutes. Practice mini-paper in the real exam's format: single-correct MCQs with four options. Marking as in the real exam: +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, 0 if unanswered. Allow about one minute per question.

    4. ClCH₂COOH
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: B (Cl₃CCOOH)

    1. 3-phosphoglyceric acid
    2. malic acid
    3. ribulose bisphosphate
    4. oxaloacetic acid
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: A (3-phosphoglyceric acid)

  2. Which of the following is NOT an intermediate of the Krebs cycle?

    1. Citrate
    2. Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate
    3. Succinate
    4. Oxaloacetate
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: B (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate)

    4. 5′-GAATTC-3′
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: D (5′-GAATTC-3′)

    1. 3 : 1
    2. 1 : 2 : 1
    3. 9 : 7
    4. 1 : 1
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: B (1 : 2 : 1)

Incomplete dominance: F₂ is 1 RR (red) : 2 Rr (pink) : 1 rr (white), so the phenotype ratio equals the genotype ratio.

    1. upright
    2. inverted
    3. always linear
    4. spindle-shaped
    Answer and explanation

    Answer: B (inverted)

The biomass of fish exceeds that of phytoplankton at any moment, because phytoplankton turn over quickly, so the pyramid is inverted.

    3. Echinodermata
    4. Cnidaria
    Answer and explanation

How to sit NEET 2018

  1. Work through the mock paper above under exam timing. It follows the reported pattern, but the questions are our own.
  2. Sit the paper under current brochure rules (timers, negatives, NAT/MSQ norms), even if 2018’s interface looked different.
  3. When the clock ends, stop. Review should take at least as long as the attempt.
  4. Fill the error log the same day: section, topic, and miss type (concept, silly, time, or misread).
  5. Next session, repair only logged items. Then pick another year from the decade list.
