Why this year matters
Older NEET papers like 2016 are for mining, not nostalgia. Keep current marking rules, and skip topics the latest brochure dropped. Biology volume dominates timing. Log Physics and Chemistry misses separately so repair sessions stay focused.
Write down one selection rule you will reuse on exam day: what you attempt first, and what you abandon after a fixed time box.
Paper analysis
Snapshot of NEET 2016
Deep archive NEET.
2016 may feel differently paced than the newest cycle. Borrow stamina and theme lessons; do not copy obsolete section orders or marking quirks.
What this paper stresses
- Biology factual volume versus Physics numerical time.
- Chemistry accuracy under Bio fatigue.
- NCERT-line questions you overcomplicated.
- Negative marking on guessed Physics.
What to extract before you move on
- Bio chapters with factual bleed (you “knew” it yesterday).
- Physics formula-slip vs concept misses.
- Chem organic/physical pockets that need a dedicated repair block.
- A timing split you will actually follow (Bio vs PCB balance).
How 2016 sits next to other years
Use 2016 only after NEET 2025, NEET 2024, NEET 2023 are logged. Archive years are for frequency maps, not for predicting tomorrow’s cut-off.
Analyst note: The conducting body did not publish the NEET 2016 paper. The mock below is original practice in the reported pattern; treat coaching “memory-based” papers as unofficial reconstructions.
NEET 2016 mock paper (modelled on the NEET-I pattern)
CBSE did not publish the NEET 2016 question booklets on an official website that we could find, so this is an original mock paper. It follows the 2016 NEET-I (1 May 2016) format: 180 single-correct MCQs in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, 3 hours, +4/−1.
What candidates reported about 2016
- Conducted by CBSE in two phases: NEET-I on 1 May 2016 and NEET-II on 24 July 2016.
- Candidates who took NEET-II had to give up their NEET-I score.
- About 8.03 lakh candidates registered for Phase I.
- Offered in English and Hindi only (more languages came from 2017).
- Pattern: 180 MCQs (45 Physics, 45 Chemistry, 90 Biology), 180 minutes, 720 marks, +4/−1.
Suggested time: 24 minutes. Practice mini-paper in the real exam's format: single-correct MCQs with four options. Marking as in the real exam: +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, 0 if unanswered. Allow about one minute per question.
Physics
A 2 kg block moving at 3 m/s strikes a 1 kg block at rest and the two stick together. What is the kinetic energy of the combined body just after the collision?
- 9 J
- 6 J
- 3 J
- 4.5 J
Answer and explanation
Answer: B (6 J)
Momentum is conserved: 2 × 3 = 3 × v, so v = 2 m/s. KE = ½ × 3 × 2² = 6 J (the remaining 3 J of the initial 9 J is lost in the perfectly inelastic collision).
A ball is projected at 20 m/s at 30° above the horizontal (g = 10 m/s²). Its maximum height is

- butan-1-ol
Answer and explanation
Answer: A (2-methylpropan-1-ol)
Longest chain containing the C bearing OH has 3 carbons (propan-1-ol) with a methyl on C-2: 2-methylpropan-1-ol (isobutyl alcohol).
The pH of 0.001 M aqueous HCl at 25 °C is
- 1
- 11
- 3
- 2
Answer and explanation
Answer: C (3)
HCl is a strong acid: [H⁺] = 10⁻³ M, so pH = −log 10⁻³ = 3.
Which of the following is the strongest base in aqueous solution?
- Methylamine
- Dimethylamine
- Aniline
- Ammonia
Answer and explanation
Answer: B (Dimethylamine)
In water, the secondary amine (CH₃)₂NH is most basic (pKb ≈ 3.27) because of +I effect plus good solvation of its cation; CH₃NH₂ (3.38) > NH₃ (4.75) > aniline (9.38, lone pair delocalised into the ring).

How to sit NEET 2016
- Work through the mock paper above under exam timing. It follows the reported pattern, but the questions are our own.
- Sit the paper under current brochure rules (timers, negatives, NAT/MSQ norms), even if 2016’s interface looked different.
- When the clock ends, stop. Review should take at least as long as the attempt.
- Fill the error log the same day: section, topic, and miss type (concept, silly, time, or misread).
- Next session, repair only logged items. Then pick another year from the decade list.
