## JEE Advanced 2026 at a glance

JEE Advanced 2026 was organised by **IIT Roorkee** and held on **17 May 2026** as a computer-based test with two compulsory 3-hour papers. The question papers were posted on jeeadv.ac.in on 17 May, provisional keys on 25 May, and final answer keys and results on 1 June 2026. This page hosts the English question papers and the final keys of both papers.

## Paper pattern (from the official 2026 papers)

Both papers have Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, in that order, with 60 marks per subject: 180 marks per paper and 360 in all.

**Paper 1** (16 questions per subject, 48 in all)

| Section | Questions per subject | Type | Marks |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | 4 | Single correct option | 12 (3 each; −1 for a wrong answer) |
| 2 | 4 | One or more correct options | 16 |
| 3 | 4 | Numerical value | 16 |
| 4 | 4 | Matching lists (List-I / List-II) | 16 |

**Paper 2** (18 questions per subject, 54 in all)

| Section | Questions per subject | Type | Marks |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | 4 | Single correct option | 12 |
| 2 | 5 | One or more correct options | 20 |
| 3 | 5 | Numerical value | 20 |
| 4 | 2 question stems, 2 questions each | Numerical value | 8 |

Full marking rules, including partial marks for multiple-correct questions, are printed at the start of each section in the papers.

## Paper analysis

### Snapshot of JEE Advanced 2026

The two papers are built differently. Paper 1 ends each subject with four matching-list questions, which take longer to read than they look. Paper 2 has more multiple-correct and numerical questions and ends with paragraph-style stems. The paper you lose more marks on tells you whether your problem is reading speed (Paper 1) or stamina and accuracy (Paper 2).

### What this paper stresses

- Multiple-correct questions, where one wrong option costs more than leaving it.
- Matching-list sets in Paper 1 that reward eliminating options pair by pair.
- Numerical answers that need care with rounding.
- Fatigue in Paper 2, which you sit after a full Paper 1 on the same day.

### What to extract before you move on

- Multi-correct hygiene mistakes vs pure concept gaps.
- Numerical answer re-key failures.
- Your score in Paper 1 vs Paper 2, subject by subject.
- PCM chapters with repeated misses across 2026 and 2025.

**Analyst note:** The PDFs below are the JEE (Advanced) 2026 organisers' own files. The answer-key files are the full papers with the final key printed after each question.

## Chapter-wise analysis

We tagged every question in the 2 official 2026 papers on this page by chapter: 102 questions (24 MCQ, 27 MSQ, 39 Numerical, 12 Matching). The chapters with the most questions:

- **Physics:** [Rotational Motion](/jee-advanced/chapters/rotational-motion/) 5, [Optics](/jee-advanced/chapters/optics/) 5, [Thermodynamics](/jee-advanced/chapters/thermodynamics/) 4 questions across the 2 papers.
- **Chemistry:** [Organic Compounds Containing Oxygen](/jee-advanced/chapters/organic-oxygen/) 5, [Solutions](/jee-advanced/chapters/solutions/) 4, [Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure](/jee-advanced/chapters/chemical-bonding/) 3 questions across the 2 papers.
- **Mathematics:** [Coordinate Geometry](/jee-advanced/chapters/coordinate-geometry/) 5, [Limits, Continuity and Differentiability](/jee-advanced/chapters/limits-continuity-differentiability/) 4, [Trigonometry](/jee-advanced/chapters/trigonometry/) 4 questions across the 2 papers.

The 2025 papers we tagged follow a different format (number of papers or questions per paper), so we do not compare counts with 2025.

## How to sit JEE Advanced 2026

1. Download Paper 1 and Paper 2 from this page. Keep the answer-key files closed.
2. Sit Paper 1 for 3 hours, take a short break, then sit Paper 2 for 3 hours, as on exam day.
3. Mark both papers with the final keys, using the marking scheme printed at the start of each section, including partial marks.
4. Fill the error log the same day: paper, subject, section, chapter and miss type.
5. Next session, repair only logged items. Then sit 2025 Paper 1 and Paper 2 the same way.
